"This fresh, smart, and soulful slice of Latin-jazz by player/producers Perez and Ramos is one of the year's best record-ings,full of beautifully recorded, crisp grooves. "Flip Flop Son" brings Miles to mind, although the acoustic guitar takes it to a different place. There's a good balance in melody between light and dark, and the material never crosses into fuzak territory. They break it down to bare bones, and use the space to create arresting soundscapes. This oune makes your ears feel good" Modern Drummer
"Panoramic in its stylistic scope, this engrossing album offers pleasant surprises with every cut. Percussionist Jose Luis Perez and guitarist Freddy Ramos, who both double on keyboards and as vocalists, have used their window on the world in remote Montevideo to capture a broad cross Section of global influences, ranging from the fusion of tango and jazz that guitarist Al Di Meola has recently championed to the melodicism of Milton Nascimento's Brazil and the spunk of acid jazz. A splash of tables here and a muted Miles-esque trumpet line there add further texture to a sound that's as individual and instantly likable as any we've recently heard. Those who seek out this small label gem will be rewarded for their trouble.
